Visit to the Ercol Factory, Princes Risborough, followed by the re-opened Wycombe Museum, Thursday 24th March 2022

Our visit to the Ercol factory will start at 10:30 a.m. in the timber yard and progress through kilning to the factory floor where we will learn about the challenges Lucian Ercolani overcame, working with elm and beech from the Chiltern Hills. We will progress through the factory to see the production of the furniture including Windsor chairs.
We will then travel the short distance to the renewed Wycombe Chair Museum, to lunch and explore the social history of the local furniture industry as well as viewing some of their chairs dating from the 18th century.
High Wycombe station, served by trains from Marylebone, is close to the museum. Those arriving by train will be offered lifts to the Ercol factory.  Applications by booking form to be received by 1st March.  The Ercol factory visit is restricted to a maximum of 10 RFS members: however the visit to the Wycombe Museum and light lunch at the museum is open to non-members. The £20 fee for the day is the same for members and non-members.  Apply by March 1st using the Day Events booking form.

Update: please note that we are now fully subscribed for the Ercol factory visit but are able to offer places to those wishing to join us for lunch and at the Wycombe Chair Museum and an afternoon devoted to their collection. The fee is the same (£20) since Ercol are kindly not charging us.
