A small number of bursaries of up to £500 each are awarded annually. These bursaries are designed to encourage and support research projects related to regional furniture, with a view to publication. The research may be undertaken as part of a university or college course requirement, or as an entirely independent exercise.
Note also that Janet Dewdney Bursaries (value £500), which are available specifically for research into early furniture and woodwork, can, if required, be combined with a standard Bursary (value £500) to give a total award of £1000
From 2015, there will be two rounds for applications. The deadlines will be 31 January and 31 July each year.
• Individual members of the Regional Furniture Society and students at member colleges/universities are eligible to apply.
• Research into any aspect of regional furniture history will be considered.
• The award is to help with travel, photography, dendrochronology, or paint analysis and other expenses associated with original and preferably ongoing research

Conference and Study Day Bursaries
A number of small bursaries, normally 50% of the fee, are available annually. These bursaries are designed to encourage interest in the subject and support early-career professional members and students, particularly those who are new to the subject, to attend the annual RFS conference or an RFS meeting. Successful applicants will normally be expected to submit a short note for publication in the Society’s Newsletter.
